Today, my sister is guest blogging about her experience at Higher Power Fitness, a cycle and yoga studio unique to New Orleans. I love trying new workouts and can't wait for my first class at Higher Power!
My name is Madison and I am Taylor’s sister who was mentioned in a previous post about how getting me to workout can be a challenge. And maybe there is a bit of truth to that statement, but there is 100% truth in the statement that she made about me always willing to try something new. If there is an opportunity presented to me to challenge myself in a new way I’m usually up for it, even if others may find the activity “dangerous” (sorry Mom…). I did find one gym that was different and is always presenting new physical challenges (it's 100% safe, I promise) each day with the classes offered. When I first went to Higher Power I had no idea what to expect. Being myself, I brought nothing with me and by nothing I mean I didn’t even have water. I took the E.P.I.C./Buddha class. It was 30 minutes of the hardest cardio/strength I have ever done, and then we went straight into 30 minutes of power yoga. My limited experience with yoga did not prepare me for this. It wasn’t the typical sit and hold a pose for two minutes. It was constantly moving while working on balance and strength. It was a completely different experience from what I was used to, but I enjoyed every moment of it. Higher Power Fitness is a cycle/yoga studio, which is rare to find in New Orleans, and by rare I mean it’s the only one! Owner Mark Berger has a variety of classes to offer for all people to try. There are some unique aspects to this studio, including the fact that you don’t sign up for a monthly membership. It is hard to find the time to get to the gym during a busy week, but with Higher Power, you don’t buy a monthly membership, you buy a package of classes. This works great for those on-the-go people who have a hard time fitting the gym into your schedule. But what about the people who like having a monthly membership? No worries because Higher Power offers a monthly membership also with unlimited classes!
